While the spring is a great time of the year for your grass to grow, it can still present an array of challenges. Take, for example, in 2019 when we received 6.5 inches of rain in April alone. That spring we received the most days with rain or snow since 1983, and that wet weather pattern continued until June of that year. Overly wet, cloudy weather can actually inhibit turf growth by blocking out the sun, which slows photosynthesis or cause nutrients to leach from the soil. It can also encourage disease growth, which can stress unhealthy turf.
